Grietjie Private Nature Reserve
" Abundant Wild Life - on the shoulder of the Olifants "
Located approximately 25km south west of Phalaborwa off the R40, east of Olifants North Game Reserve, and open to Klaserie along the Olifants River. Pronounced (roughly) “creaky”!
+/- 2800ha in total... this farm was subdivided into 117 properties approximately 21ha in extent some years ago.
No further sub divisions will be approved. From a community of subsistence farmers, the ethos is fast changing.
Newcomers to the area are eco friendly and properties and homes in the area are being upgraded.
An area next to the river is open for the enjoyment of all Grietje residents, and is where these photographs were taken.
There is a formal conservancy, and a warden has been appointed to maintain the back fence, monitor access and curb poaching.
Together with his team, he has reduced crime in the area to negligible proportions.
Progress on gaining official recognition as a nature reserve is being made.
Levies on properties in the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve are currently around R5 000 per annum.
Undeveloped properties are available from around R 980,000.

Topography in this area is varied. Not quite escarpment, it is undulating with small koppies.
Generally mopane veld, there are large areas of acacia, combretum and marula.
Open to the Kruger National Park, visitors are always surprised at the amount of game to be seen in the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve.
The Grietjie Private Nature Reserve has huge potential – both from an investment and from a residential perspective.
Traversing on the access roads is allowed and Phalaborwa, the airport and the Kruger National Park are just 25km away.
